Kathmandu: Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwaprakash Sharma has reaffirmed that the School Education Bill will be passed by the Parliament in full alignment with the agreements made with teachers. Speaking on the importance of social transformation, Sharma emphasized that teachers are at the forefront of driving lasting societal change, even more so than traditional development infrastructure.
Stressing the collective responsibility to build the nation, Sharma said, “Yes, we must build roads, generate electricity, and create jobs to ensure prosperity. But if anyone raises the strongest flag for social transformation, it is the teachers’ community. They carry it in every village, every corner of the country.”
He underlined that cooperation between politics and schools, as well as collaboration between local governments and educational institutions, must center on the goal of transforming society. “The essence of this partnership is social transformation,” he said, calling for unity in strengthening education and respecting the contributions of teachers.
Sharma also gave assurances that the School Education Bill, currently under legislative process, will reflect all the agreed-upon provisions with teachers. “Whatever has gone through the process and whatever was included in the agreement—we will pass it in Parliament exactly as it is. It will reach your hands without deviation, without being swayed to the right or the left,” he promised.
He concluded by asserting that teachers must take ownership of social transformation, emphasizing that their leadership is not just important but central to shaping the future of the nation.
